The FCP Giving Back Project

mcupload_520d4dc122bf7     llama

This month, we banded together to make a donation from our office for the holidays. Inspired by the FCP mascot (a woolen “calming llama”) and our office-wide love of animals, we bundled donations through Heifer International to donate a llama to a family in need.

Heifer International provides llamas to families living at high altitudes in the Andes Mountains of South America where no other animals can withstand the harsh conditions. Their wool is prized around the world for being denser, warmer and softer than sheep wool — making it possible for families to earn a steady living by either selling the wool or making clothes and blankets. The donation of an animal like a llama can provide families with years of economic opportunities on top of their calcium rich milk. It’s a great cause that’s worth checking out.

We’re ending the year on a note of gratitude – a huge thank you to our clients, partners, and colleagues who helped make this a great year!

Blog ShoshannaMeet our newest colleague and Communications Counselor Shoshanna Howard.  You can read her formal bio here, but the following are some questions to help you get to know Shoshanna. You can reach her at Shoshanna at FCPCommunications dot com and follow her on twitter @Sho_how

  1. Who is your communication superhero?
My PR superhero would have to be one of my dear high school friends, Crystal Wells. She is a fearless woman working for Concern Worldwide as the Senior Communications Officer.  I really admire Crystal as she is applying public relations to effectively and passionately communicate the needs and challenges of people surviving disasters, climate change, and malnutrition. Her dedication to this work is truly inspiring.
  1. Who do you think is the best storyteller?
The late David Rakoff, hands down. Mr. Rakoff was a prizewinning humorist who used comedy to write sharp and neurotic essays on everything from his childhood stories to his battle with cancer. I have always appreciated how David Rakoff could flawlessly weave humor and cynicism to create entertaining and raw stories. This video from This American Life stage show demonstrates his flavor of art and authentic ability to tell a great story.
