Erin Ivie

Senior Communications Counselor

A former journalist, Erin Ivie brings broad experience in media and content strategy to Full Court Press. Her storytelling prowess plays a pivotal role in showcasing FCP clients’ impactful work, from developing compelling media pitches and story packages, to generating op-eds and thought leadership content that educate and engage the community.

During her years as a breaking news reporter for the San Jose Mercury News, Oakland Tribune and Contra Costa Times, Erin covered in-depth a variety of social topics including environmental issues on the California coast, PTSD and mental health care for veterans, the local impact of immigration reform, health care in California jails and prisons, and the effect of food insecurity and poor transit access on low-income families. She was part of the award-winning breaking news team honored by the Society of Professional Journalists in 2014 for its coverage of the Asiana plane crash.

Erin’s ongoing engagement with this diverse range of social issues shows in the success she brings to FCP’s clients. She led a statewide communications effort in support of legislation transforming remediation in community colleges across California, securing dozens of op-eds and media stories across California. And as the Trump administration took aim at dismantling protections for public lands, Erin educated statewide editorial boards and the communities they serve about threats to California’s most precious places.

Erin grew up in the mountains of Park City, Utah and holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Utah. She is the textbook definition of a “dog person,” and enjoys yoga, interior design, and exploring California public lands with her husband.
